2015 Floods - Travis County

In May and October of 2015, Travis County experienced flooding events that led to the county receiving a Presidential disaster declaration. As a part of the declaration, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will allocate Community Development Block Grant disaster recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to the state of Texas to be distributed to affected areas to facilitate long-term recovery. The Texas General Land Office (GLO) is the designated state agency that administers all federally allocated CDBG-DR funds for Texas.

Travis County Method of Distribution

In November 2016, the Travis County Commissioners Court approved a Method of Distribution for the initial allocation of $5,531,116. In October 2017, the GLO notified Travis County that an additional $3,113,119 were available. Consequently, in February 2018, the county submitted an amended Method of Distribution to account for the final allocation of $8,644,235. As determined by the GLO's Needs Assessment, 68 percent or $5,878,080 must be spent on infrastructure, planning and economic development activities and 32 percent or $2,766,155 must be spent on housing activities.

Questions regarding the development of Travis County’s MOD or any of the tools for its development should be directed to Travis County.
